Our Momentary and Light Afflictions 2 Cor 4 v 17-18

A tiny encouragement! As you've noticed there is not a cloud in the sky today, but pure blue, brilliant sunshine. I was out earlier this morning wanting to pray ...but mostly found songs rising in my heart like a flowing river. The songs just kept on coming to me so I figured that was what the Lord wanted. It's so nice when you are not manufacturing or forcing yourself to sing but that songs flow to you like a river and through you. Anyway..I digress...... back to the point...as I walked across a sunlight green grass field enjoying this unexpected time of song and worship..... suddenly for some metres I found myself in very, very wet boggy muddy and unpleasant ground..... but here's the thing... I came out the other side and there ahead was a huge area of green dry sunlight grass under a cloudless blue sky. As I came out of the muddy horrible patch a verse came to me very clearly "out of the blue" (excuse the pun) which whispered:

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Cor. 4: 17-18

Whatever you go through, however unpleasant, long and nasty, I do want to remind you that blue cloudless sunlight green fields of eternal heaven await you. It may seem like years of darkness for a while, but I promise you, (or rather the Bible promises you) you will come through and you will be happily singing in glory 10 million years hence. I don't mean to diminish or demean anyone's pain right now if you are going through dark times...I just had a clear and unexpected reminder today that sunlit cloudless, warm joy and freedom in all eternity await those who trust in Christ.
